Origin: Originating from the Indo-Pacific region, Lyretail Anthias are found in a range of environments from lagoons to coral reefs. They are accustomed to clear, warm waters and are often seen in groups, swimming in the mid to upper regions of the water column. Feeding: Lyretail Anthias are planktivores, feeding primarily on zooplankton in the wild. In captivity, they require a varied diet of high-quality marine flakes, frozen, and live foods such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and other planktonic foods. Frequent feeding, at least two to three times a day, is recommended to maintain their health and vibrant coloration. Tank Mates: Being a peaceful species, Lyretail Anthias do well with a variety of tank mates. They thrive in a community tank with other peaceful to moderately aggressive fish. Good companions include clownfish, Wrasses, gobies, and other anthias species. It’s advisable to introduce all anthias to the tank simultaneously to prevent territorial behavior. While not the most challenging species to keep, Lyretail Anthias do require some level of marine aquarium experience. Attention to water quality, diet, and tank dynamics are crucial for their well-being. Water Parameters: To thrive, Lyretail Anthias need stable water conditions. Ideal parameters include a temperature range of 72-78°F (22-26°C), a pH of 8.1-8.4, and specific gravity of 1.020-1.025. Regular water changes and monitoring of water parameters are essential to maintain these conditions.
