Shallowtail Angelfish – Genicanthus semifasciatus
Overview:
The Shallowtail Angelfish is a beautiful and peaceful angelfish, with males displaying striking vertical stripes and females showing a more subdued golden-yellow body. Unlike many angelfish, this species is reef-safe, making it a great choice for mixed reef aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Western Pacific Ocean, especially around Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines.
Feeding:
Omnivorous — thrives on high-quality marine angelfish diets, spirulina, mysis, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood, with regular algae in the diet.
Tank Mates:
Ideal for reef and community tanks, coexisting well with tangs, Wrasses, clownfish, and other peaceful species.
Aggression:
Generally peaceful, best kept singly, in pairs, or harems in large aquariums.
Experience Level:
Suitable for intermediate aquarists, as long as stable, clean water conditions are provided.
