Overview

The Skull Creek Rainbow Fish is a vibrant and active freshwater species known for its striking iridescent colors and elongated, streamlined body. Ideal for community aquariums, it adds dynamic movement and dazzling hues to mid- to large-sized tanks.

Origin

Native to northern Australia, specifically Skull Creek and surrounding freshwater streams. Prefers clear, slightly flowing waters with submerged vegetation and open swimming areas.

Feeding

Omnivorous. Thrives on a varied diet including:

• High-quality flakes and pellets

• Frozen or live foods (brine shrimp, daphnia, bloodworms)

• Occasional vegetable matter to support color

Tank Mates

Peaceful and schooling, best kept in groups of 6 or more. Compatible with:

• Rainbowfish species of similar size

• Tetras, barbs, danios

• Corydoras and other peaceful bottom dwellers

Avoid: Aggressive or fin-nipping species that may stress them.

Aggression

Low. Males may show minor display behavior during breeding, but overall peaceful.

Experience Level

Beginner to intermediate. Hardy, adaptable, and ideal for community freshwater tanks with stable water conditions.
