Spikey Starfish – Banded (Nardoa tuberculata)

Overview:
The Spikey Starfish, also known as the Banded Starfish, is a unique echinoderm recognized for its bumpy, armored surface and distinctive banded arms. Its striking appearance makes it an eye-catching addition to larger marine aquariums.

Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, commonly found in shallow reef and lagoon environments.

Feeding:
An opportunistic omnivore. Feeds on detritus, biofilm, and small invertebrates. Supplemental feeding with finely chopped seafood, sinking pellets, or algae-based foods may be required in captivity.

Tank Mates:
Best suited for tanks with peaceful fish. Not recommended for delicate reef tanks, as it may consume soft corals, sponges, or sessile invertebrates.

Aggression:
Non-aggressive, but predatory feeding habits require caution in reef setups.

Experience Level:
Intermediate to advanced. Requires a large, mature system with plenty of live rock and stable water conditions.
