Spiny Boxfish – Chilomycterus schoepfii
Overview:
The Spiny Boxfish is a unique and eye-catching marine fish with a boxy, rigid body covered in small spines and distinctive markings. Its slow, deliberate swimming and unusual appearance make it a fascinating addition to large marine aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Western Atlantic Ocean, including the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Florida Keys.
Feeding:
Omnivorous — thrives on a diet of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, chopped seafood, and marine algae.
Tank Mates:
Best suited for peaceful to moderately aggressive community tanks, avoiding small or delicate fish that may be stressed by its presence.
Aggression:
Generally peaceful, though its spiny body deters predation and requires careful handling in mixed tanks.

Recommended for intermediate to advanced aquarists, due to its size, specialized diet, and sensitivity to water quality.
