Splendid Gramma Dottyback Manonichthys Splendens The Splendid Dottyback, Manonichthys splendens, is a vibrant and eye-catching marine aquarium fish. Originating from the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Western Indian Ocean, this species grows up to 7cm (2.8 inches) in length. The Splendid Dottyback has a slender, elongated body with a velvety black coloration accented by neon blue stripes on its head. It is considered a peaceful dottyback species, though it can be territorial and should be kept with larger, robust tank mates. This fish does best in a well-established reef aquarium with plenty of hiding places. In terms of feeding, the Splendid Dottyback is an omnivore that will accept a varied diet of meaty foods, algae, and marine plant matter. Maintaining good water quality with stable parameters is crucial, as this species requires a pH of 8.1-8.4, temperature of 72-82°F, and specific gravity of 1.020-1.025. Overall, the Splendid Dottyback is a beautiful and rewarding addition to the marine aquarium, but may require some experience to care for properly due to its territorial nature. It has been successfully bred in captivity, making captive-bred specimens a good choice for hobbyists.Above images for illustration purposes only.
