Spotted Drum Sweetlips – Equetus punctatus

Overview:
The Spotted Drum Sweetlips is a striking and elegant marine fish, known for its long, flowing dorsal fins and bold black-and-white spotted pattern. Its graceful swimming and dramatic appearance make it a captivating addition to reef or fish-only aquariums.

Origin:
Native to the Western Atlantic, Caribbean, and Gulf of Mexico, commonly inhabiting coral reefs, lagoons, and shallow coastal areas.

Feeding:
Carnivorous – feeds on small crustaceans, worms, and other meaty marine foods. Frequent feedings are recommended to maintain health and vibrant coloration.

Tank Mates:
Best kept with peaceful or moderately semi-aggressive fish. Avoid very small fish or invertebrates, which may be eaten.

Aggression:
Non-aggressive – generally peaceful but may show mild territorial behavior toward conspecifics.

Experience Level:
Intermediate to Advanced – thrives in a well-established aquarium with open swimming space and plenty of hiding spots.

• Minimum Tank Size: 180+ gallons
