Overview:
The Spotted Grunt Sweetlips is a large, visually striking marine species, famous for its bold black spots on a silvery-beige body and dramatic juvenile coloration, which features large contrasting spots that fade as the fish matures. Its peaceful temperament and striking appearance make it a standout in any large aquarium.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, commonly found in coral reefs, lagoons, and reef slopes.
Feeding:
Carnivorous – thrives on crustaceans, mollusks, worms, and other meaty marine foods. Multiple feedings per day are recommended for juveniles; adults may feed once or twice daily.
Tank Mates:
Best kept with peaceful or semi-aggressive large fish. Avoid very small fish or invertebrates, which may be eaten.
Aggression:
Generally peaceful – may show mild territorial behavior as adults but not aggressive.
Experience Level:
Advanced – requires a very large, mature aquarium with plenty of swimming space and hiding spots due to its size and growth potential.
