Spotted Mushroom Colony Discosoma A Spotted Mushroom Colony Discosoma is a vibrant and diverse coral that originates from the Indo-Pacific region. These corals are known for their mottled coloration, often featuring a combination of greens, purples, blues, and whites. The oral disc of a Discosoma coral has a more textured and bubbly appearance compared to other mushroom corals like Actinodiscus. Discosoma corals prefer moderate water flow and low to moderate lighting, with an optimal PAR range of 75-150. They are able to move and relocate within the aquarium, and some species are known to prey on small fish and invertebrates. As such, they should be kept with compatible tank mates that won't be targeted.Discosoma corals are generally considered beginner-friendly, as they are hardy and not overly susceptible to common coral diseases. However, care should be taken when introducing them to a new environment, as they may detach and float around until they find a suitable spot. The ideal water parameters for a Spotted Mushroom Colony Discosoma include a pH of 8.1-8.4, temperature of 72-82°F, and calcium levels of 400-450 ppm. Regular supplementation of amino acids or microplankton can also provide a nutritional boost for these corals. Overall, a Spotted Mushroom Colony Discosoma can be a vibrant and rewarding addition to a reef aquarium, provided the appropriate water conditions and tank mates are maintained.Above images for illustration purposes only.
