Sturgeon Armoured Catfish Lamontichthys Filamentosus 10cm Overview: With a peaceful demeanor, these catfish are excellent scavengers, constantly foraging the substrate for food remnants, keeping the tank clean. Their armored plating provides protection against minor aggression and potential injuries. Origin: Found in the freshwater rivers of Brazil, specifically in the Amazon basin, these catfish prefer slow-moving waters with plenty of hiding spots among rocks and driftwood. Feeding: Sturgeon Armoured Catfish are omnivorous and thrive on a diet consisting of sinking pellets, algae wafers, and frozen or live foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp. They are efficient scavengers, consuming leftover food, detritus, and algae. Tank Mates: These peaceful catfish make great tank mates for most community fish. They prefer the company of other peaceful species like tetras, rasboras, and peaceful cichlids. Avoid pairing them with aggressive or overly territorial fish. Aggression: Lamontichthys Filamentosus are incredibly peaceful and non-aggressive, making them an ideal addition to community tanks. They may become slightly territorial during breeding, but this behavior is usually mild. Experience Level: Suitable for aquarists of various experience levels, these catfish are relatively easy to care for. They thrive in well-maintained tanks with stable water conditions. Water Parameters: Maintain a pH range between 6.5 to 7.5 and a temperature range of 72-78°F (22-26°C). Provide ample hiding spots using plants, rocks, and driftwood to mimic their natural habitat.
