Tassel Filefish – Chaetodermis pencilligerus
Overview:
The Tassel Filefish is a unique and intriguing marine species, featuring a slender, laterally compressed body with distinctive tassel-like appendages along its head and fins. Its subtle coloration and unusual appearance make it a fascinating addition to specialized reef or marine aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, commonly found around coral reefs and rocky coastal habitats.
Feeding:
Omnivorous – feeds on algae, small invertebrates, and prepared marine foods. In captivity, provide a diet including spirulina, marine algae, mysis shrimp, and high-quality pellets.
Tank Mates:
Best kept with peaceful reef fish. Avoid aggressive species that may harass or outcompete the Tassel Filefish.
Aggression:
Generally peaceful, though may nibble on soft corals or small invertebrates in reef setups.
Experience Level:
Intermediate – suitable for aquarists experienced with stable marine aquariums and proper feeding routines.
