Threadfin Cardinal – Zoramia leptacantha

Overview:
The Threadfin Cardinal is a small, peaceful, and visually striking schooling fish, recognized for its slender body, translucent fins, and delicate thread-like extensions on its dorsal and caudal fins. Ideal for reef tanks, it adds motion and elegance in groups, creating a dynamic display.

Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, commonly found on coral reef slopes and lagoons from the Red Sea to the central Pacific.

Feeding:
Carnivorous – thrives on small meaty foods, including brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and finely chopped seafood, as well as high-quality frozen preparations. Feed multiple times daily for optimal health.

Tank Mates:
Peaceful and schooling by nature, best kept in groups of 6 or more. Compatible with other non-aggressive reef fish. Avoid housing with large predatory species.

Aggression:
Non-aggressive – peaceful schooling fish that prefers the safety of groups.

Experience Level:
Beginner to intermediate aquarists – hardy, adaptable, and reef-safe, making it a great choice for community marine tanks.

Water Parameters:

• Temperature: 74–80°F (23–27°C)

• pH: 8.1–8.4

• Salinity: 1.020–1.025

• Minimum Tank Size: 50+ gallons
