Tiger Shrimp (Alpheus bellulus)

Overview:
The Tiger Shrimp is a small, striking snapping shrimp known for its vibrant coloration and distinct stripe patterns. It is an active burrower and a fascinating addition to reef tanks, often forming symbiotic relationships with gobies or other invertebrates.

Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, commonly found on sandy and rubble substrates near coral reefs.

Feeding:
Omnivorous. Feeds on detritus, small invertebrates, and leftover food. In captivity, accepts finely chopped seafood, mysis shrimp, and high-quality sinking pellets.

Tank Mates:
Generally peaceful with other invertebrates and small fish, though it may exhibit territorial behavior toward other snapping shrimp. Avoid housing with very small or delicate species that could be stressed.

Aggression:
Moderately territorial, especially with conspecifics. Will defend its burrow but is generally non-aggressive toward other species.

Experience Level:
Intermediate. Requires a mature tank with sandy substrate for burrowing, stable water parameters, and hiding places.
