What is an Umbrella tree?
The Umbrella tree (also known as Schefflera arboricola or Gold capella) is a small shrub that is native to China. It’s quite large for a terrarium plant and is sure to be the centrepiece of any enclosure. The bush boasts yellow-patterned leaves all year round. The Umbrella tree appreciates a shaded area and medium-high heat for the best growth.
How do you keep an Umbrella tree alive?
The Umbrella tree is fairly hardy and will withstand most environments. However, it’s key that you ensure it doesn’t become too waterlogged, as this can quickly lead to leaf and root rot. If this plant starts to decline in health, it’s most likely to be because it has too much water or is too cold.
What are Umbrella trees good for?
Umbrella trees fill space well and can be used by reptiles to climb and work through a tough shed. They make substantial house plants and are ideal for brightening up a darker corner in any room. As they are fairly easy to grow, these plants are great for those taking up exotic gardening as a hobby.
