Overview:
The Unicorn Blue Naso Tang is a large, elegant marine fish, characterized by its elongated body, small forward-facing “unicorn†horn, and striking blue-gray coloration with yellow accents on the fins. Its graceful swimming and bold appearance make it a standout in large reef or community aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, commonly found on coral reefs, lagoons, and outer reef slopes from East Africa to the central Pacific.
Feeding:
Primarily herbivorous – thrives on marine algae, seaweed, and spirulina-based foods, supplemented with occasional meaty foods like mysis shrimp for balanced nutrition.
Tank Mates:
Best kept with peaceful to moderately semi-aggressive fish. Avoid housing with very aggressive or small, timid species due to potential territorial behavior.
Aggression:
Moderately territorial – may defend feeding areas, but generally peaceful in spacious, well-maintained aquariums.
Experience Level:
Intermediate to advanced aquarists – requires a large, mature aquarium with stable water conditions and ample swimming space.
