Utsurimono Butterfly Japanese Koi Carp (Cyprinus carpio)

Overview:
The Utsurimono Butterfly Japanese Koi is a striking ornamental koi distinguished by its bold black base colour contrasted with vivid markings of red, white, or yellow. Enhanced by long, flowing butterfly fins, this variety delivers dramatic visual impact and graceful movement, making it a standout feature in any pond.

Origin:
Originating from Japan, the Utsurimono variety is admired for its high-contrast patterning and strong visual presence. The butterfly-fin variation adds elegance and fluid motion while maintaining the powerful look traditional to this koi type.

Feeding:
Omnivorous. Feed high-quality, color-enhancing koi pellets as a staple, supplemented with vegetables, shrimp, or seasonal treats. Feed 1–2 times daily during warmer months.

Tank / Pond Mates:
Peaceful and social. Best kept with other koi or calm, similarly sized pond fish such as goldfish.

Temperament / Aggression:
Very peaceful and non-aggressive, making it ideal for mixed koi ponds.

Experience Level:
Beginner to advanced. Hardy and adaptable, though maintaining good water quality and sufficient pond space is essential for vibrant coloration and overall health.
