Watanabei Angelfish – Genicanthus watanabei

Overview:
The Watanabei Angelfish is a striking reef-safe species, with males displaying bold black striping on a silvery-blue body and females showing a more subtle blue coloration with dark edging. Active, hardy, and peaceful, it’s a favorite among reef keepers.

Origin:
Found in deep reef slopes of the Pacific Ocean, especially around Japan, the Philippines, and Micronesia.

Feeding:
Omnivorous — thrives on high-quality marine pellets, spirulina, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood, with algae-based foods included regularly.

Tank Mates:
Well-suited for reef and peaceful community aquariums, coexisting with tangs, Wrasses, gobies, and clownfish.

Aggression:
Very peaceful; can be kept singly, in pairs, or in harems in larger systems.

Experience Level:
Ideal for intermediate aquarists, requiring stable, pristine water and open swimming space.
