White Claw Hermit Crab Phimochirus Operculatus The White Claw Hermit Crab, scientifically known as Phimochirus operculatus, is a colorful and active Caribbean hermit crab species that is not commonly found in the pet trade. This hermit crab has a white right claw, which gives it a distinctive appearance. It is an omnivorous scavenger, feeding on algae, detritus, and other small organisms in the aquarium. White Claw Hermit Crabs are generally peaceful and can be kept with other peaceful invertebrates and small fish in a reef-safe aquarium. However, they may be aggressive towards their own kind, so it's best to keep them individually or in a large enough tank with plenty of hiding spots. These crabs require a saltwater aquarium with stable water parameters, including a pH between 8.1-8.4, temperature between 72-82°F, and specific gravity between 1.020-1.025. They also need adequate hiding places, such as shells or rock crevices, and a substrate that allows them to burrow. Overall, the White Claw Hermit Crab is a relatively easy-to-care-for species that can make an interesting addition to a well-established marine aquarium, but it's important to ensure the proper water conditions and tank setup to meet their needs.Above images for illustration purposes only.
