Overview:
The Addis Blue Cheek Butterfly Fish is a striking reef species, notable for its vibrant yellow body accented with electric blue lines and a distinctive blue patch across its cheeks. Its vivid coloration and graceful swimming make it a standout centerpiece for large marine aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Red Sea, often found in coral-rich lagoons and outer reef slopes.
Feeding:
Omnivorous – in the wild, it feeds on coral polyps, small invertebrates, and algae. In captivity, it accepts frozen mysis, enriched brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality marine flakes or pellets.
Tank Mates:
Best housed with peaceful community fish. Not considered reef safe due to its coral-feeding habits.
Aggression:
Generally peaceful, though may exhibit mild territoriality toward other butterflyfish in smaller tanks.
Experience Level:
Recommended for intermediate to advanced aquarists, as it requires stable water conditions and a varied diet.
