Blue Ramshorn Snail (Planorbella duryi)
Overview:
The Blue Ramshorn Snail is a visually striking freshwater snail known for its flat, spiral-shaped shell with unique blue-grey tones. Its peaceful nature and algae-grazing habits make it both decorative and practical for planted and community aquariums.
Origin:
Native to North and Central America, Planorbella duryi is commonly found in slow-moving rivers, ponds, and freshwater habitats with abundant vegetation.
Feeding:
Omnivorous. Feeds on algae, biofilm, decaying plant matter, and leftover fish food. Supplement with algae wafers or blanched vegetables such as zucchini, spinach, or cucumber for optimal nutrition.
Tank / Setup Requirements:

Tank Mates:
Compatible with peaceful community aquariums, shrimp, and other invertebrates. Avoid snail-eating fish such as puffers or loaches.
Behaviour:
Peaceful and slow-moving. Spends most of its time grazing on surfaces and helping keep the tank clean. Ramshorn snails reproduce readily in favorable conditions.
Experience Level:
Beginner friendly. Hardy and easy to maintain, making them suitable for both new and experienced aquarists.
