What is the Swell Boxer Crab?

The Boxer Crab, known scientifically as Lybia tessellata, is a fascinating species of crab, mostly due to them frequently carrying anemones in their claws, which they use to defend themselves, raising the anemones at predators. These crabs also are known to assist with cleaning any leftover food. Boxer Crabs have a fascinating symbiotic relationship with the anemone, as the anemone provides them with the ability to defend themselves, and the anemone benefits from feeding on particles of the crab’s meals. This truly remarkable species and its relationship with anemone create a beautiful piece of a marine environment in your home. The Boxer Crab is visually striking too, with its brown/beige body, and accents of red across its legs, back and face, but one of the most intriguing aspects is the anemone they carry, which varies, but also is what they are named after, giving the impression of them wearing boxing gloves

How are these invertebrate delivered to you?

The delivery time for your invertebrate will be two working days if ordered before 2pm Monday - Thursday, and if you ordered after 2pm on a Thursday until Sunday then they should arrive with you by Tuesday. They will arrive in a polystyrene box and be bagged with oxygen which will allow them to stay packaged for up to 48 hours, if they are ordered during winter they will also come with heat pads for warmth. There is a one off £30 delivery charge regardless of how many fish you buy per order.
