Carribean Feather Duster Fan Worm Sabellastarte Magnifica The Caribbean feather duster fan worm, Sabellastarte magnifica, is a captivating marine invertebrate found in the Caribbean region. This fan worm is known for its magnificent, feather-like crown of radioles that it uses to filter feed on plankton and suspended organic matter in the water column. The Sabellastarte magnifica originates from the Caribbean Sea, Bahamas, and southeastern North America, typically inhabiting depths between 15-75 feet. This fan worm secretes a soft, non-calcareous tube that it cements to hard surfaces like coral or rock. The tube is often covered in white sand grains using secretions from a gland behind the worm's head. In terms of tank mates, the Caribbean feather duster is generally peaceful and can be kept with other invertebrates and small, peaceful fish species. However, it is sensitive to water movement and vibrations, so care should be taken to avoid startling it. For optimal care, the Caribbean feather duster requires stable water parameters, including a pH of 8.1-8.4, temperature of 72-82°F, and moderate water flow. It is recommended for experienced aquarium hobbyists, as it can be challenging to maintain the necessary water conditions for this delicate fan worm.Above images for illustration purposes only.
