Pink Lady Nerite Snail (Clithon sowerbyanum)

Overview:
The Pink Lady Nerite Snail is a beautiful and uncommon freshwater snail admired for its soft pink to rose-toned shell with subtle natural patterns. Known for its excellent algae-eating ability and peaceful nature, this snail is both a decorative and practical addition to planted and community aquariums.

Origin:
Native to Southeast Asia, Clithon sowerbyanum is commonly found in rivers, streams, and coastal waterways with clean, flowing water.

Feeding:
Primarily herbivorous. Feeds on algae, biofilm, and micro-organisms growing on glass, rocks, plants, and décor. If natural algae is limited, supplement with algae wafers or blanched vegetables such as zucchini or spinach.

Tank / Setup Requirements:

• Minimum tank size: 20 litres (5 gallons)

• Provide plenty of surfaces such as rocks, driftwood, and plants for grazing

• Stable water parameters recommended

• Secure lid recommended as nerite snails may occasionally climb above the waterline

Tank Mates:
Perfect for peaceful community aquariums. Compatible with most small fish, shrimp, and other invertebrates. Avoid snail-eating species such as puffers or large loaches.

Behaviour:
Peaceful and active algae grazer. Constantly moves around the aquarium feeding on algae and biofilm. Nerite snails may lay eggs in freshwater, but they will not hatch without brackish water conditions.

Experience Level:
Beginner friendly. Hardy, beneficial, and easy to care for, making them ideal for both beginner and experienced aquarists.

Water Parameters:

• Temperature: 22–28°C (72–82°F)

• pH: 6.5–8.0

• Water Type: Freshwater

• Hardness: Moderate to hard water recommended for shell health.
