The Seuss Cory is a rare and highly sought-after Corydoras species, instantly recognizable by its striking black horizontal stripe and elegant elongated snout. Named after fish explorer Dr. Ralf Britz (nicknamed “Seuss”), this Cory’s sleek profile and bold markings make it a standout in any aquarium.
Native to Peru, occurring in clear and blackwater tributaries of the upper Amazon basin where soft substrates and leaf litter dominate.
A peaceful bottom-dweller that thrives on a varied omnivorous diet:
Sinking Cory pellets and wafers
Frozen foods (bloodworms, daphnia, brine shrimp)
Live micro-foods for conditioning
High-quality micro sinking granules
Important: Provide soft, fine sand to protect their delicate snout and barbels.
An excellent addition to calm community setups:
Small tetras and rasboras
Pencilfish
Peaceful dwarf cichlids
Other gentle Corydoras
Small rainbowfish
Avoid large or fin-nipping species.
