Striped Sweetlips – Plectorhinchus lineatus
Overview:
The Striped Sweetlips is a vibrant and eye-catching marine species, recognized for its bold black-and-white striped pattern and plump lips. Juveniles feature striking spotted patterns, adding unique visual appeal. Known for its peaceful demeanor, it is a captivating centerpiece for larger marine aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, commonly found in coral reefs, lagoons, and reef slopes.
Feeding:
Carnivorous – feeds on crustaceans, mollusks, worms, and other meaty marine foods. Multiple feedings per day are recommended for juveniles; adults may feed once or twice daily.
Tank Mates:
Best kept with peaceful or moderately semi-aggressive fish. Avoid very small fish or invertebrates that may become prey.
Aggression:
Generally peaceful – may establish territories as adults but is not overly aggressive.
Experience Level:
Intermediate to Advanced – requires a large, well-established aquarium with hiding spots and open swimming areas.
