What is this Swell Heater?

This Swell Heater is a shatter resistant submersible heater designed to heat tropical or marine aquariums. Our range includes models that heat aquariums from 100-300L. It has been built to stand the test of time, with a durable glass outer surrounding sensitive heating elements that, thanks to a smart electronic chip, can keep your aquarium at a constant temperature between 20°C and 32°C.

Why choose a quartz heater?

Quartz heaters such as the Swell Heater have many benefits including:

  • High durability
  • Able to handle extreme thermal shock
  • Resistant to shattering from raid temperature changes
  • Can withstand temperatures above 1000°C
  • Remains robust under stress
  • Doesn't soften or degrade over time
  • Chemically inert
  • Won't corrode in saltwater or mineral heavy tanks
  • Reliable for high demand setups

Quartz is commonly used in lab equipment and high‐heat environments due to the low chance of breakage, so you can have peace of mind this heater is perfectly safe for all aquariums.

How do I install this Swell Heater?

This Swell Heater is easy to install. Before you plug it in, place it inside your aquarium and use the suction cup/s provided to attach it to a glass surface. Once you plug it in, the heater's 'on' light will turn on. Don't worry if this turns off after a short while, this means that your aquarium is up to temperature. As soon as it drops below your set temperature, your heater will turn back on.

You can submerge this heater, or you can leave its top poking just above the water line for easy access to its temperature control knob. Be careful not to let your aquariums water line go below the minimum line on your heater, or you risk it overheating and, potentially, breaking.

Do I need a heater for my aquarium?

In most cases, yes. If you're keeping tropical or marine fish, they'll require a heated aquarium. Some temperate or cold water fish may also appreciate a heater, especially during colder months or if they're being kept inside a garage with no heating.

Before you purchase and set up a heater, it's worth checking two important things. We have 3 models available, the 100w for 100L tanks, 200w for 200L tanks and 300w for 300L tanks, so it is important to check you are purchasing the correct size for your aquarium.

And two, what kind of fish are you keeping? Do a bit of research to see what kind of temperatures your fish prefer - some may like a range, while others may like a specific temperature. Always try to keep fish that like a similar temperature, rather than mixing species that have different requirements.
