Titan Trigger – Balistoides viridescens
Overview:
The Titan Trigger is a massive and powerful marine predator, easily recognized by its dark gray to greenish body with lighter markings and robust build. Its impressive size and commanding presence make it a true centerpiece for large aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, commonly found on coral reefs, lagoons, and outer reef slopes from East Africa to the western Pacific.
Feeding:
Omnivorous – thrives on a diet of meaty foods such as shrimp, squid, crustaceans, and small fish, supplemented with high-quality marine pellets. Regular feeding supports growth, health, and vibrant coloration.
Tank Mates:
Best kept with large, robust fish. Smaller fish and ornamental invertebrates may be eaten, so careful tank mate selection is essential.
Aggression:
Highly territorial and predatory – requires ample swimming space and rockwork for hiding and hunting.
Experience Level:
Advanced aquarists only – demands a very large, mature aquarium with strong filtration and careful management of tank mates due to its size and aggression.
Water Parameters:
-
Temperature: 74–80°F (23–27°C)
-
pH: 8.1–8.4
-
Salinity: 1.020–1.025
-
