Description

Apistogramma Juruensis is a beautiful and rare dwarf cichlid species native to the blackwater streams of the Juruá River in the western Amazon. It features a sleek body, subtle iridescent coloration, and distinct dark markings along the lateral line.

This species prefers soft, acidic water and a natural setup with leaf litter, driftwood, and low lighting to mimic its native habitat. The fish tends to be shy and thrives in a calm environment with plenty of hiding spots such as coconut huts, caves, and dense plants.

During breeding, males become more vibrant and defend a territory, while females turn bright yellow and guard the eggs and fry. Observing their courtship and parental care behaviors is a rewarding experience for dedicated aquarists.

Due to their sensitivity to water quality, Apistogramma Juruensis is best suited for intermediate or experienced aquarists who can maintain stable parameters and provide a stress-free environment.
