Description:

The Azul Peacock Bass, also known as the Piquiti Peacock Bass, is a spectacular predatory cichlid renowned for its vibrant bluish hues and dramatic vertical banding as it matures. Originating from South America, this fish is not only prized in the aquarium hobby but is also a popular sport and food fish in its native range.

Due to their large size and predatory nature, these cichlids demand very spacious aquariums and are best suited for experienced fishkeepers. They should be housed with similarly sized tank mates, ideally other large cichlids. While generally manageable, territorial behaviour and aggression may intensify as they mature, especially in confined spaces.

Feeding:

The Azul Peacock Bass is a carnivorous predator that naturally preys on live fish. In captivity, it may initially require feeder fish but can be trained to accept frozen foods and high-quality carnivore pellets. A varied diet will promote healthy growth and vibrant colouring.
