Description:

The Black Widow Frontosa, particularly the “Black Widow” variant, is a striking and popular species native to Lake Tanganyika, one of East Africa’s largest and deepest lakes. These fish are known for their bold vertical banding and the prominent nuchal hump on mature males.

Spending most of their time at the bottom of the lake, frontosas rise to feed and are appreciated for their peaceful yet territorial nature. While they are semi-aggressive, their relatively slow movements and unique coloration make them a favourite among aquarists. Their ease of care adds to their popularity in both community and species-specific aquariums.

Diet:

Frontosas are omnivores and thrive on a diet of high-quality flake or pellet food. They can also be fed frozen or freeze-dried krill and plankton as an occasional treat to enhance their health and colouration.
