Detailed Description

The Blue Blotch Lab (Labidochromis sp. "Blue Blotch") is a stunning Mbuna cichlid native to Lake Malawi. Known for its brilliant blue body adorned with distinct darker blotches, this species adds vivid color and dynamic activity to any African cichlid aquarium.

Males are typically more colorful and territorial, especially during breeding, while females are slightly less vibrant. Providing plenty of rocks and caves mimics their natural rocky habitat and helps reduce aggression.

The Blue Blotch Lab thrives in hard, alkaline water typical of Lake Malawi, with stable pH between 7.8 and 8.6 and temperatures around 24 to 28°C (75 to 82°F).

Their diet should include high-quality cichlid pellets, flakes, and occasional live or frozen foods to maintain health and enhance coloration.

This species is an excellent choice for intermediate hobbyists looking for a colorful, active Mbuna cichlid to enrich their aquarium.
