Description:

The Brokopondo Peacock Bassis one of the most unique and visually striking members of the Peacock Bass group. Native exclusively to Suriname’s Lake Brokopondo, this rare variant is currently regarded as a form of Cichla ocellaris, though it may eventually be recognised as a separate species.

Like all Peacock Bass, the Brokopondo is a powerful predator requiring an expansive, well-maintained aquarium. It is best kept by experienced aquarists who can provide suitable space and compatible tank mates of similar size and temperament. Their bold markings, size, and feeding behaviour make them a standout centrepiece for any serious predator tank.

Feeding:

The Brokopondo Peacock Bass is a carnivorous predator that naturally feeds on live fish. While some live feeder fish may be necessary, they can typically be trained to accept frozen foods and high-quality carnivore pellets over time. A varied and protein-rich diet will support optimal growth and vibrant colouration.
