What is Hanna Phosphate Low Range Pocket Checker?
The Hanna Phosphate Low Range Pocket Checker is ideal for coral reef tanks, plus fresh and salt water aquariums. With its high accuracy and low level detection at the touch of a button - the Phosphate Checker is assisting marine and fresh water fish enthusiasts with the daily care of their tanks. The checker is supplied with reagents for 6 tests.
Phosphate directly inhibits calcification by corals and coralline algae - even at low levels. The health of plants in freshwater aquaria will also be impaired by raised levels of phosphate in the water. Phosphate naturally occurs as waste decomposes in coral reef, salt and fresh water aquariums. While it does not directly harm fish when levels are high, resulting green algae growth can deplete the oxygen levels in water. Corals can lose their colour due to the effects of brown algae. The optimum phosphate level - particularly for reef tanks - is often quoted as zero or 0.05 mg/L (ppm).
With its ability to register the presence of phosphate in salt and fresh water at extremely low levels, the new Hanna Phosphate Checker offers a real 'must-have' addition to the fish lover's equipment chest.

What are the Phosphate Low Range Reagents?
Also available to purchase is a 25 pack of the replacement reagents compatible with this device. Hanna Replacement Reagents are high-quality reagents for Hanna chemical test kits and Hanna instruments, which are designed to identify different chemicals within your aquarium or pond. These high-quality reagents are pre-measured, allowing users to achieve fast and accurate measurements with each of their pocket checkers. These reagents follow the DPD Method in which the reaction between the element and reagent causes a tint in the sample. By simply adding the packet of reagent to the sample, the reaction will take place and you can determine the concentration from the colour that is produced. The results will be displayed on the pocket checker LCD screen.
