What is the Ista Glass Diffuser?
The Ista Glass Diffuser a glass diffuser with a built in bubble counter so you can easily monitor the CO2 levels. This diffuser is for dissolving carbon dioxide (CO2) into planted aquariums. It simply connects to 4/6mm CO2 proof hose as part of a CO2 fertilisation system. The diffuser has a built-in bubble counter, which for guidance purposes we suggest running at 1 bubble per 10L of aquarium capacity per minute. It is recommend that you monitor the CO2 levels using an indicator and adjust the bubble rate to suit your requirements.

Why is CO2 important for a planted aquarium?
Not all aquariums require CO2, but for those packed with live plants, CO2 can dramatically enhance the growth rates, colours, and health of said plants. Some aquatic plants need a constant supply of CO2 to grow, without it they'll struggle to establish themselves in a home aquarium.
To get the most out of your Ista Glass Diffuser, use it in partnership with a high-quality light and some nutritious plant fertiliser. This will give your plants everything they need, and then some.
It's recommended that you keep CO2 levels low in the first few days after set-up. You can increase CO2 levels over time as your aquarium and its inhabitants adjust to an increased influx of CO2.
What are the benefits of using a CO2 diffuser?
As carbon is one of the building blocks of life, carbon dioxide is fundamental to all plant growth. Add it to your aquarium and your plants will thrive. CO2 deficiency in aquariums affects plants. Providing them with extra CO2 and good light, as well as other nutrients, will ensure they grow large, strong, and healthy.
Diffusers are an effective way of introducing CO2 into an aquarium. As CO2 is forced through the porous medium, it breaks down into a fine mist of bubbles. As a result, your aquarium water column can more easily disperse the bubbles. Your filter will then push the bubbles downward, allowing them to diffuse more effectively.
Why do I need to monitor the levels of CO2 in my aquarium?
The right CO2 concentration in the water is of great importance for aquarium plants. Carbon dioxide is the main nutrient for plants and promotes their growth. Plants use the CO2 for the photosynthesis and thus supply the water with essential oxygen. They prevent algae growth, remove pollutants, provide hiding places and reduce pathogens.
