Description:

The Pinima Peacock Bass (Cichla pinima) originates from the remote Rio Piranima and is one of the rarer species of Peacock Bass available in the hobby. This large-growing predator is admired for its distinctive full-body golden speckling, giving it a unique and attractive appearance.

Like all members of the Cichla genus, the Pinima Peacock Bass is a powerful predator and requires a very large aquarium with ample swimming space. It should only be kept by experienced aquarists capable of meeting its size and dietary needs. Best kept in small groups with similarly sized cichlids, though care should be taken as aggression and territorial behaviour can increase as the fish matures.

Feeding:

The Pinima Peacock Bass is a carnivorous predator that primarily feeds on live fish. Feeder fish may be necessary, especially when the fish is first introduced. Over time, most specimens can be trained to accept frozen foods and high-quality carnivore pellets. A varied, protein-rich diet will support their health and vibrant appearance.
