Origin:

Hailing from the freshwater rivers and tributaries of Central Africa, specifically the Congo Basin, these puffer fish thrive in warm, soft waters abundant with hiding spots among vegetation or driftwood.

Feeding:

Their diet primarily consists of meaty foods like small crustaceans, snails, and various live or frozen protein‐rich options. Supplement their diet with occasional offerings of quality pellets to ensure balanced nutrition.

Tank Mates:

Best kept in a species‐only tank due to their aggressive nature towards other fish. However, they can coexist with larger, equally robust species in a sufficiently spacious environment.

Aggression:

Congo Potato Puffer Fish are known for their territorial behaviour and may display aggression towards other fish, especially during feeding times or when establishing territory. Providing plenty of hiding spots and space can help reduce conflicts.

Experience Level:

Recommended for intermediate to advanced aquarists due to their specific care needs, particularly their dietary requirements and potential aggression towards tank mates.

Water Parameters:

Maintain water temperature between 24‐28°C, pH levels ranging from 6.8 to 7.6, and softer to moderately hard water. Regular monitoring and maintenance of water quality are crucial for their well‐being.
