What are Seachem Algae Pads?

Seachem Algae Pads are non-scratch algae pads for glass and acrylic aquariums. The melamine foam that these pads are made from uses micro abrasive technology to easily remove stubborn algae, such as green spot, from the surfaces of your aquarium.

Seachem Algae Pads are particularly effective at removing algae that’s grown into scratches on your glass and acrylic surfaces. They’re chemically inert and do not use soaps or detergents to scrape away stubborn algae. Their white colour also contrasts against dark algae, making it easy to see when areas are fully clean.

What is melamine and how does it work?

Melamine foam is incredibly effective abrasive cleaner. It has a microstructure as hard as glass, but because of its open-cell structure it remains flexible. It performs on stains a lot like extremely fine sandpaper. In the aquarium, it easily removes algae by scraping with its extremely hard microscopic filaments.
