Detailed Description

The Sulphur Head Haplochromis Cichlid (Haplochromis sp. "Sulphur Head") is a captivating and colorful African cichlid named for the bright yellow (sulphur-colored) patch on its head. Native to Lake Victoria, this species adds a vibrant splash of color to any African cichlid aquarium.

Males are especially vivid during breeding, displaying enhanced yellow markings and territorial behavior. Females are more muted but still show the characteristic yellow head patch.

This cichlid prefers a well-structured tank with plenty of rocks, caves, and open swimming spaces to establish territories and reduce aggression.

Maintaining stable water conditions with a pH of 7.5 to 8.5 and temperatures between 24 and 28°C (75 to 82°F) will help this species thrive.

A varied omnivorous diet including quality pellets, flakes, and occasional live or frozen foods like bloodworms or brine shrimp promotes health and vibrant coloration.
