Why choose Swell Fountain Pumps?
Swell Fountain Pumps are robust and reliable garden pond pumps with flow rates of 720-3400 lph. They feature a thermal cut off switch that prevents your pond pump from overheating and cuts out the power supply if you attempt to run the pump dry. With an internal strainer to keep debris out of the pump and protect components, the unit not only boasts great results but is energy efficient too. Larger models of this garden pond pump include a stepped hosetail adapter and an adjustable outlet to power an additional waterfall or pond filter.
How do I select a fountain pump?
Fountain pumps come in various sizes and you should choose them based on how much water your fountain holds and lifts within a given time. This measurement determines the maximum head height rating, which is how high the pump will need to lift or push the water to reach the fountainhead. For optimal performance, choose a pump with a maximum head height that is higher than your fountain for strong water flow into the fountain and out of the fountainhead.
How do fountain pumps work?
A water fountain can either spray water into the air or create a waterfall effect and keep a garden pond aerated. The pump, which is submerged, uses power to move the water while the spinning impeller pumps water in and forces it out. The water forced from the pump is delivered to the fountain where it is sprayed into the air through a fountain head. The water that is sprayed into the air will then fall back onto the fountain and drain back into the reservoir.
What size pump do I need for my pond?
Pump flow rates drop when you pump higher and further than the pond. You should aim to purchase a pump that meets your filter's maximum flow rate at its height above pond level.
- Fountain Pumps 750 & 1000 - fountain only.
- Fountain Pump 1450 - Stepped hose adapter for 1/2", 3/4" 1" pond hose.
- Fountain Pump 2500 - Stepped hose adapter for 1/2", 3/4" 1" pond hose.
- Fountain Pump 3500 - Stepped hose adapter for ¾", 1", 1 ¼" and 1 ½" pond hose.
Please note: The hosetail fitting when using the fountain is 12mm only. The impeller in this pump is a consumable part. With this being the only moving part of your pond pump, it is exposed to a lot of friction which can cause it to wear down and break over time. This component is not covered by the guarantee and can be purchased as and when required.
