What is the Evolution Aqua EazyPod Complete Automatic UVC?
The Evolution Aqua EazyPod Complete Automatic is one of the compact Nexus filters. It offers both mechanical, biological and UVC filtration by using K1 micro media that filters in both a downward and upward flow. Thanks to this innovative filtration system, this filter can be used on ponds up to 20,000 litres in sizes (or 10,000 litres in Koi ponds).
Unlike other filters, the Eazypod Automatic also features a small control box, which lets you control your biological filter system completely. Using the integrated control box you can use the electronic connector blocks control to adjust the automated waste valve and a built-in air pump to clean the K1 filter media as well as set the adjustable timer to preset the cleaning cycle.
What makes a good koi pond filter?
According to our experts, the best Koi pond filters have a high-quality biological filter system and mechanical filtration media, such as the K1 micro media in the EazyPod Automatic. Our experts also recommend a filter that is easy to maintain with a self-cleaning cycle to help you manage the large amount of waste your fish produce. With these factors in mind, we can confidently say the EazyPod automatic is an outstanding Koi pond filter, thanks to its K1 micro media and air pump-powered automatic cleaning cycle.
Can you use a pool filter for a Koi pond?
No, pool filters are often sand filters that are designed to manage chlorinated bodies of water used occasionally by humans, who produce little waste. On the other hand, Koi pond filters are powerful pressure filters that are designed to manage natural pond water used perpetually by Koi, who produce a lot of waste. A pool filter will quickly become blocked in a Koi pond and require constant maintenance.
How often should you clean a filter in a Koi pond?
The regularity of cleaning really depends on the size of your pond and the number of fish living within it. Generally, the bigger the pond and the more fish, the more often your filter will need a clean. However, factors like the time of year and overhanging trees can increase the need for cleaning. The biggest sign that your filter needs cleaning is a drop in filtration and pond cleanliness, as soon as you notice this you should clean your pond.
