What is MarinePure Gem Bio Filter Media?

MarinePure Gem Bio Filter Media is an incredibly porous, high performance biological media suitable for both freshwater and saltwater use. This Gem variety can be placed in canister filters, hang-on back filters or in nano tank filter systems, and will effectively remove ammonia and nitrite. Just 90g of Gem can treat aquariums up to 284L.

What are the benefits of MarinePure Bio Filter Media?

MarinePure is designed to be a substrate for bio-filtration, specifically to target ammonia and nitrite removal (nitrification) and to minimise nitrates (denitrification). It has a unique combination of large open pores and high surface area. This gives a large amount of bacteria easy access to nutrients (ammonia, nitrite and nitrate) and allows old bio-film to be easily flushed from the system. It can be used fully submerged or in trickle/shower filters (do not use in moving bed filters).
