What is MarinePure Plate Bio Filter Media?

MarinePure Plate Bio Filter Media is an incredibly porous, high performance biological media suitable for both freshwater and saltwater use. This Plate variety is capable of removing ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate, and has a versatile design that makes it suitable for use in custom-built, DIY filters. It’s also easy to cut and modify to your specific needs.

What are the benefits of MarinePure Bio Filter Media?

MarinePure is designed to be a substrate for bio-filtration, specifically to target ammonia and nitrite removal (nitrification) and to minimise nitrates (denitrification). It has a unique combination of large open pores and high surface area. This gives a large amount of bacteria easy access to nutrients (ammonia, nitrite and nitrate) and allows old bio-film to be easily flushed from the system. It can be used fully submerged or in trickle/shower filters (do not use in moving bed filters).
