What is MarinePure Sphere Bio Filter Media?

MarinePure Sphere Bio Filter Media is an incredibly porous, high performance biological media suitable for both freshwater and saltwater use. This Sphere variety is effective at removing ammonia and nitrite under high flow. Just one Sphere has the same surface area as 1,350 plastic 1.5” bio-balls!

Thanks to its deep pore structure, Sphere Bio Filter Media allows for the development of low oxygen zones. These zones help to control nitrate levels and, in doing so, reduce the chance of algal blooms in your aquarium. Sphere can be used in canister filters, sumps, and wet/dry filters. It’s also available in two sizes: 2.3L or 3.8L.

What are the benefits of MarinePure Bio Filter Media?

MarinePure is designed to be a substrate for bio-filtration, specifically to target ammonia and nitrite removal (nitrification) and to minimise nitrates (denitrification). It has a unique combination of large open pores and high surface area. This gives a large amount of bacteria easy access to nutrients (ammonia, nitrite and nitrate) and allows old bio-film to be easily flushed from the system. It can be used fully submerged or in trickle/shower filters (do not use in moving bed filters).
