- Developed especially for small aquariums up to 100L
- Makes aquarium maintenance easier
- Breaks down pollutants in the water
What is Sera Siporax Mini Biological Filter Media?
Sera Siporax Mini Biological Filter Media was developed especially for smaller aquariums up to a volume of approximately 100 liters. It allows a maximum increase of the settling surface for purification bacteria but retains a compact shape, allowing biological filtration to occur even when using smaller filter units. Sera Siporax Mini Biological Filter Media allows water parameters to lastingly stabilise, making the maintenance effort reduced.
Key Features:
- For aquariums up to a volume of 100 litres
- Allows a large surface area for beneficial bacteria to colonise
- Made to perfectly fit a small filter unit
- Stabilises water parameters
- Reduces the effort needed to maintain an aquarium
- Simulates the biological filtration in natural waters
- Removes ammonium, nitrite and nitrate
- Has a three-dimensional pore structure
- Long-lasting
- Prevents algae growth
Why do I need biological filtration in my aquarium?
The filtration and breakdown processes in the bottom ground of natural waters are very important. Organic waste is processed by micro-organisms and is thus available for the natural cycle as a nutrient for aquatic plants, and pollutants such as ammonium, nitrite, and nitrate are removed. Since there is little waste per water amount formed in nature, the bottom surface is sufficient for housing enough micro-organisms. However, an aquarium accommodates a small biotope in little space. It is therefore necessary to enlarge the settling area as much as possible to ensure the complete and safe breakdown of organic remainders. Sera put this into practice with the unique high performance filter media Sera Siporax.
What are the benefits of Sera Siporax Mini Biological Filter Media?
Sera Siporax consists of sintered glass. The unique material has a special three-dimensional pore structure, allowing the maximum surface area to increase. At the same time, the fine pores provide ideal settling conditions for bacteria that break down pollutants. Since it is an interconnected system, the bacteria are permanently rinsed by water so can break down pollutants with best possible efficiency. Furthermore, the unique pore array allows for self-purification of the substrate and thus very long filter holding times. In combination with specialised bacteria, Sera Siporax even fulfills a variety of other special tasks, such as algae prevention or directed water conditioning.
