What are Swell Dark Mini Landscape Seiryu Rocks?
Swell Dark Mini Landscape Seiryu Stone is a metamorphic rock perfect for hardscaping your aquarium. Available in a dark grey-black colour with marbling effects throughout, this aquascaping rock is suitable for all aquariums including planted aquariums, tropical aquariums and more. Landscape rocks, such as true seiryu stone and dragon stone, are the most desirable rocks for aquascapers because of their layered appearance and inert nature. They are often used in Iwagumi aquascaping.
Swell Dark Mini Landscape Seiryu Rocks are a natural product, meaning the shape and size is irregular. Each pack comes in sizes of 0.8-1.2kg and 2.3-2.7kg. Colours vary and sizes are approximate, as no two pieces are the same, ensuring that each piece will be unique.
How do I hardscape my aquarium?
Hardscaping your aquarium comes down to personal preference. Depending on the size of your freshwater tank, you’ll need to decide on how much rock you require, from a few stones to a multilayered rockery. We recommend using metamorphic rocks and wood of the same type to create a more natural look. Mini landscape rock can be added to small aquariums without being overwhelming, the only difference when working for a smaller aquascape is that you must be more aware of the space you are working with.
A deep substrate layer should cushion large, heavy rocks, seiryu stone and dragon stone. Deep aquarium substrates make it easier to place angled seiryu stones. An aquascape with rock as the main focus and carpet plants on the substrate is known as an Iwagumi, a popular way of aquascaping.
What other aquarium decor do I need?
Plants complement aquarium rocks and can be used to create mountain-like scenes in your aquarium so you might want to surround your rock with aquarium plants to soften the rockwork and create an impressive backdrop for your fish to swim against. Because the colour ranges from light grey to darker grey, combining it with aquarium driftwood for a natural aesthetic can have a dramatic impact and add to your aquascape.
